Jeff and the Bully
Page 1
One super sunny morning in the early summer, a mother and her child decided to go to the park together. Jeff was very excited to go, because he wanted to try to make new friends. They had just moved to town and hadn't met anybody in the neighborhood.
(car driving to the park with mom and Jeff in it)
Page 2
The park wasn't very far away, so it only took them five minutes to get there. When Jeff got out of the car he ran to the playground. He met with some kids and started to play tag together. They were having so much fun.
(a bunch of kids talking to each other)
Page 3
After playing for a little while, all of the kids ran away. Everyone except for Jeff. Jeff became confused about why everybody ran away from him? Jeff screamed to the other kids "Where are you going? I'm not it. What did I do?"
(a profile of Jeff screaming to the other kids)

Jeff then turns around and sees that there is a big kid standing behind him. Suddenly the giant kid says "You're in my park. Give me all of your money and don't tell your mom or I will beat you up!" Jeff tried to run away, but was caught by the boy's giant hands. "I said, give me all of your money. I'm losing my patience!" Jeff threw all of his money at the bully, then ran away as the kid picked it up.
(frightened kid looking at big bully)

The next day Jeff's mom said " You looked like you had so much fun at the park yesterday you should ..." "NO!!" Jeff's mom now shocked by his interruption said "Why not? Didn't you have fun?" "I did...I just don't feel so good today." "Oh. are you getting a cold? Let me feel your head to see if your getting a fever." After feeling his head, Jeff's mom said "You don't have a fever, but maybe we should just stay home and unpack our stuff and go shopping for some food."
(Jeff sitting sick in bed)
Page 6
The next day Jeff couldn't fake being sick anymore. So his mom brought him to the park. Jeff looked around to try to find the bully, but he couldn't see him. Jeff was so happy that the big kid wouldn't bother him today. He went to go play with the other kids, but they ran away from him when he got there. He became confused. The bully wasn't at the park, why would they run away?. He turned around and the bully wasn't behind him. Why where they running away? Jeff yelled out, "He's not here. why are you running away?" One of the other kids yelled back, "Devin told us that if we talked to you or played with you, he would beat us up. Sorry."
(the kids running away from Jeff)
Page 7
Jeff was sad the next day that he would possibly never make any friends, because they might be afraid of getting beaten up for being friends with him. He started thinking of a way to defeat the bully and get him to never bother him again.
(Jeff sitting in a chair with a thought bubble over his head with swirls in it)

The next day Jeff went to the park. He had to get there very early to set his trap.
(Jeff going to the park early morning the sun is just coming up and he has rope in his hands)
Page 9
It takes him almost an hour to set up his ingenious plan. So he sat and waited, rope in hand, for his plan to unfold.
(Jeff sitting behind a bush with a rope)
Page 10
After a couple of minutes, the bully came in and took a kid's money. Then Devin threw him away like yesterday's trash. Jeff jumped out of the bush and yelled "Hey, tough guy, come and get me. Or are you to chicken?"
(Jeff standing there with a funny face on making the bully mad)
Page 11
The bully was now completely enraged due to Jeff's unexpected taunting of him. Steam came out of his ears and he charged at Jeff.
(a close up on Devin's face red with steam coming out of his ears)

Jeff pulled the rope as hard as he could and the rope on the floor sprung up and tripped Devin. He fell on his face . Devin quickly sprung up to his feet even more enraged than before.
(Devin in the trap)
Page 13
Jeff noticed his plan hadn't worked as well as he thought it would. He thought the bully would run away embarrassed and in pain.
(a scared Jeff standing there shocked)
Page 14
Jeff started to run as fast as he could. It still wasn't fast enough. The bully soon got him and lifted him up four or five feet high.
(Jeff in Devin's hands high up in the air)

Once Devin lifted him up he said, "I've got you now." And then started to laugh "HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA."

The next day Jeff's mom said "Have fun at the park, Jeff. Be home for dinner"
(Jeff's mom yelling to Jeff as he left the house)
Page 19
Jeff was on the way to the park when he took a turn to go to the library. The rest of the day he spent in the library reading fiction books and staying away from the park at all costs.
(Jeff sitting in the library)
Page 20
The next day, on the way to the library, he ran into one of the kids from the park. "Hey. Jeff, right? How is it going? Is Devin still bothering you?" "Yeah, I'm trying to stay away from the park so he can't do anything to me." "That's no way to deal with the problem. You have to tell an adult that can help you. Here, I'll help you write it."
(Jeff talking to another kid)
Page 21
"So, who can help me with my problems?" Jeff started to wonder about this. He came up with a list of five groups of people he could talk to. It started with his parents, then went to their friends, then a teacher, then a counselor. and, lastly, it said an outside adult, like a police officer. "I think you're right. These people can really help me with my problem. Thank you."
(Jeff holding the list thanking his friend for the help)
Page 22
Jeff sat in the library for the rest of the day. He was thinking about the list of people that can help him now. He had decided to go to the one person that was there for him forever and would always be able to help him.
(Jeff leaving the library)
Page 23
Jeff runs home at full speed. When he burst through the door he yelled, "MOM! Where are you? I need to talk to you about something." Then his mom came running down the stairs frantically. "Whats the matter, Jeff?" "I need to tell you something. I've been thinking and I've decided to tell you about my problem at the park and tell you the truth. I haven't been going to the park for the last couple of days. I've been going to the library to try and avoid this bully named Devin. He's been picking on me at the park. I don't know what to do." After a few minutes, they decided to talk to the parents of Devin.
